Terms of use

1. Subject matter

This site checks image files and texts for markers of machine generation and reports the result together with the individual findings. The service is free of charge and open to everyone. There is no entitlement to availability.

2. What the result is and what it is not

The result states which technical markers were found in the data submitted. It is not evidence, would not hold up in court, and is not an expert opinion. It is not a basis for accusations against any person, for measures under employment or examination law, or for comparable decisions.

The absence of a finding is the normal case and establishes nothing. In particular it does not mean that a piece of content was created by a person. Conversely, some findings rest on unsigned statements a file makes about itself; anyone could have entered such a statement. 3. Obligations when using the service

You may only submit material for which you hold the necessary rights. Submitting unlawful content is prohibited. Automated bulk queries, attempts to circumvent the usage limit and any conduct that impairs operation are not permitted. The number of checks per origin is limited.

When an address is checked, our server fetches the file stored there. Only enter addresses that may lawfully be fetched.

4. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for damage arising from injury to life, body or health. In cases of ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation and limited to the foreseeable damage typical of such a contract. Any further liability is excluded. Liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

We accept no responsibility for decisions taken on the basis of a result from this site.

5. Changes

We may change, restrict or discontinue the service at any time. The methods used are adapted on an ongoing basis as the state of the art or the legal requirements change.

6. Governing law

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which a user has their habitual residence remain unaffected.
